Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers: An Invaluable Part of Our Mission
Volunteers are a cornerstone of our work, helping us share a positive message about blindness and showcasing the incredible abilities of blind individuals. By volunteering with us at our State Convention, you’ll join a community dedicated to creating a more inclusive society, breaking down barriers, and empowering blind people to achieve their dreams.
State Convention Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities at our State Convention include:
- Assisting with registration at events: Welcome attendees and help with check-ins
- Providing directions: Help attendees navigate the convention space
- Supporting meeting rooms and sessions
- Helping with general event logistics and operations
- And so much more! Whether you have specialized skills or simply a willingness to help, there’s a place for you
Volunteers are especially important during our State Convention, where they play a crucial role in ensuring events run smoothly and everyone feels welcome.
How to Get Started
If you’re interested in volunteering at our State Convention, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact President Linda Melendez at president@nfbnj.org or dial 908-590-1747.
When you reach out, be sure to include:
- Your name and contact information (email and phone number)
- The town and county where you live
- Your specific areas of interest or skills you’d like to contribute
Volunteering with us is a rewarding way to make a meaningful impact, meet new people, and learn more about the blind community.

Volunteer Registration Form
The State Convention volunteer registration form is now open and will remain available through September 30, 2026. Individuals interested in volunteering are encouraged to complete the form at www.nfbnj.org/state-convention/volunteer-registration.
The registration form helps us learn more about your availability, interests, and preferred volunteer assignments during the convention. It also allows us to coordinate volunteer schedules, match volunteers with appropriate opportunities, and share important convention updates and training information with all volunteers in advance of the event.
All registered volunteers are required to attend a mandatory one-hour volunteer training meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The training will provide important information about volunteer responsibilities, convention procedures, and best practices for supporting convention attendees. Details for joining the meeting will be provided to all registered volunteers. Volunteers are also expected to abide by the Courtesy Rules of Blindness, the National Federation of the Blind Code of Conduct, and the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey Fragrance-Free Policy while volunteering at the State Convention.
If you have questions about completing the volunteer registration form, please contact Nimisha Rana at volunteers@nfbnj.org.
