The National Federation of the Blind works to improve opportunities for blind students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. NFB STEM2U, brings nonvisually accessible STEM lessons and activities to blind youth. Students of varying ages across the country will receive instruction from NFB personnel, blind mentors, and expert instructors.

Program Details

The NFB of New Jersey will be hosting NFB STEM2U on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10am to 3pm at:

New Brunswick, NJ 08904

Check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m. Parking is available. The center is also accessible via the NJTransit Northeast Corridor line as well as AccessLink. Lunch will be provided, please alert us to any food allergies during registration. We will become astronomers through the study of astrophysics and engineering. Join us to build models of the James Webb Space Telescope, learn about the Earth’s atmosphere, discover why the Webb was sent to space, and explore how it studies space. STEM can be accessible; let us show you how!

Who Should Attend

This program is designed for blind and low-vision students in grades three to high school level who:

• Are interested in STEM
• Are unsure about STEM but interested in a fun program specific to blind students
• Are in need of hands-on, nonvisual skills training opportunities from blind role models
