About The Sounding Board

The Sounding Board is the semi-annual publication of the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey (NFBNJ). Published twice a year, it features educational, motivational, and thought-provoking stories from our members and others in the blindness field. Through The Sounding Board, we strive to provide hope, inspiration, pride, and camaraderie by sharing personal experiences and valuable insights.

We encourage our readers to share The Sounding Board with family members, teachers, professionals, neighbors, friends, and anyone else who may benefit from its content. With an estimated nationwide circulation in the thousands, readers regularly share how The Sounding Board has influenced their lives.

The Sounding Board is available in multiple accessible formats:

• Email Subscription – Subscribe via our Sounding Board subscription form to receive each issue via email. Subscribers also receive updates from the state affiliate, including information about our state convention, as well as materials from the National Federation of the Blind headquarters in Baltimore.
• Newsline® – Access The Sounding Board through NFB’s Newsline®, an audio service that makes publications accessible to blind and print-disabled individuals.
• Website Download – Download complete issues in HTML, Word Document, and PDF formats directly from our website.

Submit an Article

We welcome article submissions from members and professionals in the blindness field. If you have an inspiring story, educational content, or an advocacy-related article, please submit it to Annemarie Cooke, Editor, via our contact form.

Editorial Policy:

The editorial team will determine whether an article will be published and reserves the right to edit all submissions for space and clarity considerations.
